7 April 1506 - 3 December 1552The Patron Saint of our College
In light with the motto of the college “light and life through truth”, the institution deems it as its pride to cherish the virtue of truth with all its essence established in the consciousness of the members. That this virtue might lead to ‘The Truth’, which is God Himself, the integrity of the institution is realised by the administrators, the staff and the students, that every family that the institution touches might be ignited with this light.
Social justice brings dignity to humanity. However, in today’s scenario, it is in the rarest of cases that justice is done to all classes. Time and again certain people are ostracised and left unnoticed. It takes courage and determination to bring injustice to light. This institution has always stood by justice and fought for the downtrodden and the suppressed. The members of the institution have always shined bright as the warriors of justice.M
Where there is absolute commitment, there is no contamination or corruption of any form. In this line of thought, one should also note that it is in the Ignatian discipline first and foremost that commitment surpasses all aspects of talents and excellence. There is never a goal achieved nor any ambition realised without the commitment of the members of an institution. Our Xaverian family is one community, committed to the growth of the students and the welfare of the institution.
Anybody who deals with the youngsters should possess this necessary virtue. The younger generation needs more compassion and love. It is this virtue that moved the patron of our college St. Francis Xavier to come and dwell among the poor. Following closely the footsteps of its patron, the institution has always become the abode of the poor and the underprivileged.
The Ignatian Magis has always been a clarion call to every Jesuit staff and student. To move from the word best to ‘better’ suits the achiever best. It is this understanding that acts as the nervous system of the Xaverian body. Though we are one body and various members, we all keep moving forward without ever saying ‘No’.
The social justice is done in the light of truth, that the truth might lead us, Xaverians, to commitment and compassion for the students who may strive for excellence in the service to others. This is in brief the compendium of the values that help the members of the institution to reach out to the world.
