Management education has emerged as one of the most sought after job oriented professional courses in the recent times. Having realised the requirements of the students community of southern part of Tamilnadu, the Under Graduate department of business administration (BBA) was established by the college during June 2006. Since its inception, the department has been catering to the requirements of students aiming at joining corporate entities and pursuing higher education in management and other professional courses like ACA, AICWA and ACS. The department is very keen in updating the curriculum in accordance with the emerging requirements of corporate world and also equipping the students to appear in the different entrance examinations meant for getting admission in MBA and in this regard required orientation is usually given to face the popular entrance examinations like CAT, MAT, TANCET, etc
Developing the entrepreneurial traits during the studentship sows the vibrant seed in the minds of a student. Considering this, the department inculcates these traits through curricular and non-curricular activities like inviting renowned entrepreneurs to the association of the department and thereby the prospective entrepreneurs get a strong source of inspiration.
In addition to the above activities, the department periodically conducts model interviews, group discussions, exposing business etiquettes and Case Analysis which mould the learners as good decision makers.
Besides these, in order to develop the latent multifaceted talents of students of management, an inter collegiate state level management meet named MEXPO (Management Exposure) is conducted every year. The intellectual calibre of student is further accelerated by organizing a national level seminar on any topic of global level managerial importance. The students are highly encouraged to undertake Industrial Visit often and Summer Internship Programme is a mandatory part of the degree.
The department was coordinated by Prof. A. Bernard Chandra from its inception until June 2011. Now it is headed by Prof. R. Murugesan. Four Assistant Professors are serving the department..
