This academic portal celebrates 100 years of its academic excellence in teaching, learning, research, extension and infrastructure. Admission to economically and socially weaker sections, culturally rooted, politically conscious, religiously committed, educationally interested in youth belonging to the districts of tirunelveli and Kanyakumari then and today it is catering to the youth of seven districts namely Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Ramnad.
In the Yesteryears, the focus was training and forming them to become intellectuals and good ethical persons. Today with the onset of computers, digital technologies and integration of these computers and digitals, the system of tertiary education is fast changing the characters of every learner, every gender and environment. Thus, demanding every teacher and trainer to serve the learner to become not mechanical and digitals but fully human and alive to her or his situation. The close circles of parents, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends, classmates and coworkers are reduced to "i" and "I" only. This egocentric life results in initial contentment but ultimately weak and frustrated, leading to separations and suicides.
Therefore, St. Xavier's College, celebrating its 100th year focuses on "Other-Centeredness" through One Rupee a day programme and STAND extension programme which is regular exercise of interacting with villagers and serving them. Thus, our students both men and women are gradually becoming more men and women for others.
The college website is one such digital media through which such internal change like each one loving oneself and sharing love with one another is made possible. It also facilitates regular interaction with teachers, classmates, the alumni/ae and other stakeholders. Finally, every stakeholder of St. Xavier's College becomes an integrated person.
We are happy in this 100th year to see this change in all our stakeholders. We thank the Jesuit Management, the faculty, the non teaching staff, Alumni/ae parents and others. I Wish the website creators do this job regularly.
