The St. Xavier’s College Research Grant (SXCRG) is a prestigious internal funding scheme introduced to promote a culture of research and innovation within the institution. It aims to provide seed funding for promising research ideas that can lead to significant academic contributions, societal benefits, or further external funding opportunities.
- To encourage faculty members and students to undertake original and innovative research.
- To provide initial financial support for developing new research ideas.
- To strengthen the college’s research profile through quality publications, patents, and conference presentations.
- To promote interdisciplinary and collaborative projects.
- To generate solutions for local, regional, and national challenges through research.
All research guides of St. Xavier’s College are eligible to apply individually or as a team.
- Total Budget: ₹2,50,000 (or as decided for the year).
- Funding Limit: ₹25,000 for faculty projects.
- Project Duration: Normally 12 months.
- Allowable Expenses: Purchase of consumables, minor equipment, data collection, travel related to fieldwork, software, and publication charges.
- Proposals must be submitted in the prescribed SXCRG format within the announced deadline.
- Each proposal should include an abstract, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, budget justification, and references.
- Pre-Screening: To ensure completeness and compliance with guidelines.
- Peer Review: Evaluation by an expert committee based on:
- Originality and novelty of the idea
- Feasibility of execution
- Expected impact and outcomes
- Budget appropriateness
- Final Selection: Approved by the Research Committee of the College.
- Submit progress reports and a final project report.
- Present findings in the SXCRG Annual Research Symposium.
- Acknowledge SXCRG funding in all publications and presentations.
- Return unutilized funds, if any.
- Peer-reviewed journal publications.
- Conference papers and presentations.
- Development of new methodologies or products.
- Patents or technology transfers.
- Enhanced research capacity of the institution.
St. Xavier’s College Research Grant – 2024 (SXCRG) had been successfully sanctioned to all nine selected candidates. This initiative aimed to foster a vibrant research culture within the institution by providing financial support for innovative and impactful research projects proposed by our faculty. Following the successful implementation of the 2024 proposal, St. Xavier’s College is now inviting applications for the SXCRG – 2025. The proposal for SXCRG – 2025 was officially released on August 01, 2025. Interested faculty of our College are encouraged to submit their research proposals. The last date for submitting applications for the research grant is 1st September 2025. This initiative continues to support innovative, interdisciplinary, and socially relevant research within the institution. After receiving the proposals, ten best research projects will be selected for funding under the St. Xavier’s College Research Grant – 2025 (SXCRG). The total budget allocated is ₹2,50,000/- which will be distributed among the selected projects based on their merit and proposed budget requirements.
